Star Guardian Statistics – Infographic

As an assignment for one of my classes, I was asked to create an infographic. I had a hard time coming up with a topic, but then I thought, “Why not go full circle?” As most of you know and can see from every page of this site, my favorite skin line is that of the Star Guardians. Very few others even come close. With that in mind, I thought it might be fun to showcase some of my stats from my personal League account. The fun part is that I decided to use only the champions that have a Star Guardian skin. Enjoy!

New Game Mode: Dark Star – Singularity

A few weeks ago, some coding was found for a possible new game mode coming into the game. Last week, that game mode was officially revealed to be Dark Star – Singularity. If you’re a fan of Thresh, get ready for a whole lot of him, and an experience unlike any other in League of Legends.

Game Mode

Dark Star – Singularity will be a 3v3 round-based game mode that will take place on a BRAND NEW MAP called “Cosmic Ruins.” I don’t know about you, but that sounds gorgeous to me. And it is.


Each player will play as Thresh, the Chain Warden. The goal of the game is to hook and flay players as Thresh and feed them to the Dark Star. When fed enough souls, a Singularity will be caused and the universe will end. Exciting!


A player cannot be any other champion besides Thresh. The win condition is in Bo3 format, meaning the best of three rounds. To win a round, 100 points must be gained.

Ability Changes

For this game mode, Thresh’s abilities have been modified as follows:

Q – Death Sentence

  • Cooldown decreased and range increased
  • If a Death Sentence is thrown into the Dark Star, it will be lit on fire, causing it to deal bonus damage
  • The more health an enemy is missing, the further they will be pulled

W – Dark Passage

  • An allied team member will not have to click on a lantern to be saved – this will be done automatically
  • Cooldown has been increased and the ability will not grant a shield

E – Flay

  • The cooldown has been decreased
  • The more health an enemy is missing, the further they will be launched
  • The passive of this ability will charge faster and does more damage

R – The Box

  • This ability is disabled while on the Cosmic Ruins map


Earning Points

Point will be earned by hooking and flaying enemies into the Dark Star.

  • Champions are worth 5 points
  • Abyss Scuttlers are worth 1 point

Other Details

  • Hooking an flaying enemies into the Dark Star will instantly kill them
  • Enemies can ONLY be killed by being thrown into the Dark Star
  • The lower an enemy’s health is, the further they will fly – keep that in mind when planning your strategies
  • The player spawns around the edge of the map and must walk into the Cosmic Ruins from wherever they’d like
  • The player is untargetable while in the spawn area and cannot attack or cast spells until entering the arena
  • Three gravity anchors are positioned around the map. Hooking one of them will automatically pull Thresh to it
  • Elements of progression such as experience, gold, and items are disabled in this game mode
  • The player begins at level 3 and automatically has skill points distributed



So what do you think, Summoners? This has me really excited. It seems promising and fun, and also unlike any other game mode we have ever received in the game. I am looking forward to it. It can’t hurt to try, and kudos to Riot for trying something new. We will be seeing this game mode in Patch 7.9, which is about a week or so away! Get ready to end the world!

Dark Stars, Flying Goo, and Twisted Treants – Oh My!

It appears to be that time of the year again, where Summoners find themselves battling it out on the Rift to climb the ranked ladder and achieve the highest rank they can. Midseason is here, and with it is coming quite a few changes. There are also a couple of new gorgeous skins on the PBE, as well as a mysterious new game mode.

The biggest of these changes is probably the update to three of League’s tank champions – Zac, Sejuani, and Maokai.

Tank Update

Zac, Sejuani, and Maokai will be seeing some arguably much-needed changes that should make them more… relevant in the game. Personally, I don’t really ever see Maokai or Sejuani at all, and I see more of Zac than I’d like to. Personal hatred feelings aside, tanks in the game really don’t get enough credit at the moment.

Tank champions are meant to withstand a ton of damage while the rest of your team dishes out heavy damage, and with these three champions in particular, apparently that wasn’t being done well enough.


Zac_0It’s the big blob of green goo that we all know and hate love, Zac.

Zac’s Q ability, Stretching Strikes, as well as his Ultimate, are undergoing the most changes. His W and E remain the same.

Stretching Strikes (Q)

Zac’s arm stretches and grabs the first enemy it hits, dealing x (+x) magic damage and briefly slowing them. Zac’s next basic attack is replaced with a long range smack that repeats the initial magic damage and slow effect.”

“If Zac grabs a different enemy with each attack he’ll throw them towards each other, dealing x amount of damage

Let’s Bounce (R)

First cast: Zac squishes himself down, making him immune to Crowd Control for up to x seconds. Any enemies standing on top of him are slowed by x%.
Second cast: Charging for at least 1 second before recasting causes Zac to scoop up enemies on top of him, carrying them towards the target location. While flying through the air Zac is Unstoppable. Upon landing nearby enemies take x (+x) magic damage and are briefly slowed.
Reactivating before Zac charges up knocks back nearby enemies instead.

I feel like Zac was already overpowered enough as it is. I am curious to see how these changes affect his gameplay.



The recipient of Season 6’s Victorious skin, I was surprised to see that Maokai would be receiving an update. His gameplay, much like Zac’s, seemed pretty solid to me. In the overall scheme of the game, I guess it wasn’t solid enough.

Maokai’s Ultimate is receiving the biggest overhaul.

Nature’s Grasp (R)

Maokai summons a colossal wall of brambles and thorns that slowly advances forward, dealing X (+AP) magic damage and rooting any enemies struck for X toY seconds, increasing with distance travelled.

This is very different from Maokai’s current ultimate ability, which just allows him to take heavily reduced damage over a period of time. I am curious to see how nature runs its course.



Unlike the other two champions, I CAN definitely see why Sejuani needed an update. Her ability kit just didn’t feel unique enough for her to be a must-have on a team. Her ultimate ability is what defined her, but other than that, she was pretty useless. That is why this is the tank update I am most excited about.

Frost Armor: Passive

Frost Armor: After not taking damage for x seconds Sejuani becomes immune to slows and gains x Armor and x Magic Resist. Frost Armor persists for x second(s) after taking damage. Frost Armor refreshes faster as Sejuani moves.

Icebreaker: Enemies stunned by Sejuani are frozen, causing Sejuani’s first attack or spell against them to deal x% of their maximum Health as magic damage (max x vs monsters).

Glacial Prison (R)

Sejuani throws her True Ice bola that deals x (+x) magic damage to the first enemy champion hit and stuns them for x second.

The bola becomes more powerful as it travels, doubling the damage and stun duration and creating a storm that slows other enemies by x%. After x seconds, the storm deals x (+x) magic damage and slows by x% for x seconds.

These changes to Sejuani’s passive and ultimate should be good enough to give her more of a solid identity instead of being a one-trick wonder. Her immunity to slows will prove useful when she needs to make a getaway, and her ultimate will be a great engage for a team fight.

Dark Stars

Last year, the Dark Star skin line made an appearance in League with the introduction of Dark Star Thresh and Dark Star Varus. We now have two more champions joining them:
Dark Star Orianna and Dark Star Khazix.

Dark Star Orianna (1350 RP)

I am a personal fan of this skin line and am so excited to see Orianna getting a new skin. She deserves it and it’s much more amazing than her last new skin, which was Heartseeker Orianna. -gag-


With many shades of purples and blues, this skin is an immediate favorite.

The skin will feature all new:

  • model and textures
  • visual FX
  • sound FX
  • animations (recall)


Just look at that recall. Mesmerizing.

Dark Star Khazix (1350 RP)


This next skin was a bit of a surprise to me. It was rumored a while back, but I chose not to believe it because I couldn’t imagine how Khazix would fit in the skin line. But I have had to repent because he looks incredible.


Any skin line with shades of pinks and purples and blues is an insta-fave. That’s part of the reason that the Star Guardian line is my all-time favorite. Dark Star may have to be a runner up, though.

  • sound FX
  • animations (recall)

Little is known at the time, but the assets for a new game mode have also been added to the PBE. This will most likely be the feature of next week’s post. Stay tuned!

Patch 7.8 Skins (Release Skins for Xayah and Rakan)

A new patch means a new load of skins, and Patch 7.8 does not disappoint. This time around, we will be seeing a total of four new skins, and they are quite a sight.

Conqueror Karma (975 RP)


First up, we have Conqueror Karma. Every year, Riot releases at least one new skin dealing with the competitive aspect of the game. They usually celebrate either the start of a season, the middle of a season, or even the most popular champion during a season.  This time, Karma was chosen to receive the honors.


The skin features lots of deep reds and gold. I quite like the color scheme. I prefer this shade of red over the Valentines-y shade that is usually chosen.


Conqueror Karma will boast a new model, new particles, new visual effects, and a new recall animation. The skin will be a legacy skin, which means it will only be in the shop for a limited time upon release. Purchases of the skin will contribute to the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2017 prize pool, so the funds will be going to a good cause. Be sure to grab the skin while you can when it is released.

Cosmic Blade Master Yi (1350 RP)



Last year, Riot began a new skin line with the release of Cosmic Reaver Kassadin. The skin was such a hit that now, the line will be expanded with three new skins. Behold, Cosmic Blade Master Yi. yiw

Featuring a pretty beautiful range of colors, this skin has everything you’d expect a galactic-themed skin to have, complete with constellations.


The skin is scheduled to be 1350 RP and as far as we know, will NOT be a legacy skin. Cosmic Blade Master Yi has a new model and texture, new particles and sound effects, and a new recall in which we see Yi prepare for a blink through time and space. I am not much of a Yi player, but if I were, I would definitely be adding this skin to my collection.

Cosmic Dusk Xayah (1350 RP)



Last week, we saw the release of new champions Rakan and Xayah on the PBE! With every new champion comes a new skin, and this duo is no different. Gaze upon the beauty of Cosmic Dusk Xayah.


Featuring dark blues and white, Cosmic Dusk Xayah is ready to slay her enemies. Her basic attacks bring constellation-like visuals and are really stunning. Riot spared no expenses in the creation of this skin.


Cosmic Dusk Xayah has a new model and texture, all-new particles, new enchanting sound effects, and a new recall animation. Get ready, she should be landing soon.

Cosmic Dawn Rakan (1350 RP)



I have saved my personal favorite for last. Feast -ahem- Place your eyes upon Cosmic Dawn Rakan. Much akin to his female lover, this skin features the beauty of the sun, whereas Xayah’s skin is dark and moon-like.


Shades of orange and purple make up Rakan’s cape, and his head literally blazes with the fire of a thousand suns. His attire reminds me of a sunrise.


Cosmic Dawn Rakan is sporting a new model and textures, new particles and sound effects, and a new recall animation in which he seems to dance with the sun. Be on the lookout for this skin soon, and prepare yourself for a release bundle paired with Cosmic Dusk Xayah. Save yourself a bit of cash by taking this route.

Welcome, Rakan and Xayah

Love is in the air, and it isn’t even February! League’s newest champions are now on the PBE, and what a sight they are. Enter Rakan, the Charmer and Xayah, the Rebel! This is the first time that two champions have ever been released as a pair. They are also the first champions to enter the Rift as an entirely new race, the mysterious Vastayan.



I think I’m in love. Meet Rakan. Devilishly handsome and he knows it.


Rakan is a support mage whose abilities truly go back to the roots of a true support champion.

Rakan’s passive, Fey Feathers, grant him an occasional shield, by means of his coat. The cooldown of this ability can be reduced by attacking enemy champions.

Rakan’s Q ability, Gleaming Quill, has Rakan sling an enchanted feather forward. If the feather makes contact with an enemy champion or epic monster, damage is dealt and his coat surges with magic. After a short time, a heal will trigger. If Rakan touches an ally before this time passes, the heal will trigger immediately.


Rakan’s W, Grand Entrance, consists of Rakan dashing to an area. Upon arrival, Rakan damages any enemies in the area and knocks them up for 1 second.

Rakan’s E is Battle Dance. Rakan flies to an allied champion, granting them a shield for 3 seconds. The ability can be recast once within 5 seconds. If it is Xayah that Rakan is flying to, he can do so from a greater distance (relationship goals).

Rakan’s R (ultimate) ability is The Quickness. Rakan gains 50% movement speed for 4 seconds. During this time, touching enemy champions deals magic damage and charms them the first time they are hit. The first champion Rakan touches will grant him an additional 150% movement speed, which decays over a short period of time.



Meet the love of Rakan’s life, Xayah. She’s also a murderous rebel with a mysterious past.


Xayah is an Attack Damage Carry (ADC), whose abilities feature feathers that cause a world of hurt.

Xayah’s passive is Clean Cuts. After using any ability, Xayah’s next 3 basic attacks will pierce through their targets, leaving a  feather wherever they land. These feathers remain on the ground for 8 seconds and serve a purpose in her other abilities.

Xayah’s Q, Double Daggers, features Xayah throwing 2 knives that deal attack damage and leave behind 2 feathers.


In Xayah’s W, Deadly Plumage, she creates a storm of blades that surround her for 4 seconds. This storm grants Xayah additional attack speed and also allow her basic attacks to strike an additional time for 20% damage. If Deadly Plumage hits an enemy champion, Xayah gains 30% movement speed for 1.5 seconds. If Rakan is nearby, he will also gain the effects that this ability grants.

During Xayah’s E, Bladecaller, she calls forth all of the feathers that are on the ground. Any enemies these feathers strike through upon return to her will take attack damage. If at least 3 feathers hit an enemy, they will be rooted for 1 second. Minions will take 50% damage from Bladecaller.

Xayah’s R (ultimate) ability is Featherstorm. Xayah leaps into the air and becomes untargetable (that will be so much fun to do but so annoying to play against). She then rains down feathers which deal physical damage and leave behind a line of feathers. As if this ability were not amazing enough, she can also move while in the air.


These new champions seem amazingly impressive. And who doesn’t love a love story? I have personally never been as excited as I am now for new champions. I enjoy playing both support and ADC, and my boyfriend and I often play in bot lane together. In addition to the fact that they look stunning, they seem genuinely fun to play. I also like that some of their abilities grant them perks when used nearby one another. I am also excited for their lore. It will be nice to have a background for them. This new race seems very promising, as do they. ALL ABOARD THE HYPE TRAIN!

I mean, come on. Look at that. How can you not be in love?
